I was in vacation last week,i went with all thefamily in the south of france.I was back earlier.I amusing these few moments of quiet to send you a mail.
Atfirst, i vould like to thank uncle sean for your book,am sure that writting this book would make you fellwell,to say your story without reservation.It's a bookof love,hope and respect,.The kindness of oja's familyor the bicycle story with the neighbor are the perfectexamples.People help you and they neverexpected anything in return.
Your point of view between the east and the west'sway of life,(never tell people especially women thatthey have gained weight) or make eatingsound...All your childhood was based on the strongand so precious memories,your home with sometime therotten smell...rat died in the storage....your fathera hardworker,after so many years, you still remenberall the details like your father who lay his head on adry biscuit container, i can not imagine how he cansleep with a container,just incredible.Your mother,solovely,so believer,according to my education,i am nota believer,but as long as it don't hurt anybody, sowhy not...your siblings who paid your school tuition,encouraged you to go to college,i am impressed by thisfamily relationship.
Page 98,you talk about america,a country full of hopes and opportunities, you and aunt love this country who give you and your family a decent life,thefreedom and people can appreciated the democracy.Ifound that very true.I always tell to B,france give us all,in spite of nothing is perfect, it's like somebodywho work in the company since 40 years and hesaw all the imperfections,the day he left this firm,with second thought,he will said this company is nottoo bad.Even if i do not agree with the previousgovernment about their policy,but when i talk aboutfrance, i talk it with a lot affections andtenderness.
I adore the chapter..my escape from saigon.you talk about sylvie's father, your cousin NAM,important person in your life,this chapter would be turnit into a script for a movie like the very good moviethe killing fields..Roland Joffe director.Of coursewe have another chapter about your special person...After reading this so sincere and courageous book ,ifound a warm feeling. In 2005,with some friends, sylvie and me maked atrip to eastern europe,we was in the gallery to Praguewe saw a paint and under this picture,we can read..
If we do not honour our past,we lose our future,if wedestroy our roots, we can not grow..
